Jerome Sabol and Belinda Skelton

Plumb Works owner, Jerome Sabol, appeared on WSB's radio show "Atlanta Living" with host Belinda Skelton. Throughout the August 22 episode, he answered listeners' questions, provided plumbing maintenance tips, and suggested DIY plumbing solutions.

Sabol offered proactive steps listeners can take to ensure their drainage systems are running smoothly for Labor Day weekend. In Sabol's experience, he’s seen slimy foods are often the culprit of clogged drains. In this episode, Sabol explains how being mindful of the foods put in garbage disposals can prevent drainage issues.

“Anything that is really slimy should not go down the garbage disposal,” said Sabol. “Onion peels will stick to the inside of your pipes. They tend to stick together, bunch up, and create a clog.”

Sabol later discussed ways listeners can tackle plumbing issues themselves, including using household items to eliminate drain odors.

“I’m okay with cutting lemons and putting them down the disposal,” explained Sabol. “A lot of the time the acidity will help it smell better. We also sell a couple of different enzymes that you can put down your garbage disposal, and it’ll help keep the bad smell away.”

He explained how homeowners can also watch short videos on the
Plumb Works Academy website that demonstrate easy ways to fix common plumbing problems. The videos cover a variety of topics, including how to change garbage disposal, clean a shower head, and more.

As a plumbing expert, Sabol gave advice to homeowners on how to ensure they are purchasing quality products when re-plumbing. Later in the program, Sabol answered questions about chemical cleaning products, running toilets, septic tanks, sewer pumps, and defective copper piping.

Nothing puts the cold chill on the festive holiday season like a frozen or burst pipe. Frozen pipes are bad enough, but when they burst, the problem worsens and can easily lead to flood damage requiring costly repairs. This all-too-common occurrence affects an estimated 250,000 homes in America each year. And Georgia may be a hot bed for frozen pipes. According to a State Farm report released in 2023, Georgia topped the list of frozen pipe-related losses at $100 million (from August 2002-August 2023.) Plumb Works remains your go-to source for frozen or burst pipe calls in our service area. However, there are some simple tips you can apply to protect pipes in cold weather and help avoid a house call. Before the thermometer dips below freezing – that’s 32 degrees Fahrenheit – do the following:
